Illegal arms seized, three held by Lakhimpur police

LAKHIMPUR: Just ahead of the ensuing parliamentary election, Lakhimpur police seized illegal arms from the custody of three youths on Thursday.

A team of police, led by ASP Shantanu Dutta, seized three point two revolvers and seven live cartridges from Prabin Mili of Majuli, Saurabh Doley under Panigaon Police Station and Anthony Doke of Naharlagun of Arunachal Pradesh by launching an operation at Banderdewa located in the Assam-Arunachal border area. Police arrested the three persons and interrogated them for further information. It is suspected that the arms were brought to create some untoward incident during the election.
