Illegal sawmill seized at Baropujia in Nagaon

Nagaon/Tinsukia: A sawmill operating illegally at Alikusi village of Baropujia in the Nagaon district was raided and later seized today by Forest Department.

Acting on a tip-off, a forest team led by Nagaon Forest Ranger officer, Nepal Mandal raided the place today and found the sawmill operating illegally with a huge amount of logs in its premises.

The owner of the sawmill named Ambika Nath had managed to escape from the spot.

On the other hand, two trucks loaded with expensive timbers were seized by Police at Tinsukia. The two trucks bearing registration number PB11BU 6647 and PB11CB 9147 respectively were handed over to the Tinsukia forest department for verification of documents thereafter.
