PRC (permanent residence certificate) is issued only for students from Assam wishing to pursue higher education. Go to the revenue circle office which you belong to with an application. Make sure that the application has two copies of your passport size photo, an up-to-date land revenue receipt, a certified copy of NRC, your birth certificate and a copy of your HSLC admit card/certificate affixed with it. Officials manning the PFC (public facilitation centre) at the revenue circle office will upload your application along with all required documents online. You can submit the application with an application fee of Rs 80. Then your credentials will be verified, either by the police or the mandal. It takes 14 days for the issuance of the PRC when an applicant meets each and every requirement. If you want to apply online, you need to visit www.assam.gov.in. You will have to register yourself as a citizen under the head – ‘citizen register’. The site will lead you to your destination.
