Holding agricultural land? If so, you have to get soil health card. The Soil Health Card Scheme was launched by the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare on February 19, 2015. The scheme is implemented by the State Department of Agriculture. After conducting laboratory test of soil the department issues ‘Soil Health Cards’ only to landholders. From one soil testing, all landholders in a given area can get Soil Health Cards.

Soil health cards carry crop-wise recommendations of nutrients and fertilizers to help farmers to improve productivity through judicious use of inputs. Experts analyse the strength and weaknesses (micro-nutrients deficiency) of soil and suggest measures. The results and suggestions are displayed in the card.

The State Agriculture department gives soil health cards to landholders with the help of gaonburhas and panchayat representatives. If a land holder doesn’t get soil health card even after soil testing of the area where his land falls, he/she can contact officials of the Agriculture department to get the card issued. No application, nor any fee, is required to get the card. For details you may visit soilhealth.dac.gov.in.
