GUWAHATI: Addressing a personal hearing with Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Kamrup (M), Nobodip Pathak, the Anti Corruption Youth-Power, Assam (ACYPA) president, Dharma Kanta Gogoi re-discussed the issue over cheat funds organization in a press meet on Friday.
Gogoi said that there are currently 9455 Co-operative societies that run various Cheat Fund schemes. “It has been over three months that the personal hearing with the ADC over this issue was held. However, no action has been taken till date. We urge the issue to be tackled within the next 48 hours”, he said. Loopholes have also been discovered in the administration of J B Law College, Guwahati and the ACYPA has highlighted certain issues in the press meet. Gogoi said that renewal of J B Law College was undertaken by co-operative societies in 1969. The college has not undergone renewal ever since when it is mandatory for renewal to take place every four years. Appointments have also been made in a manner that has aroused a lot of suspicion. Gogoi alledged, “Advertisement for the position of principal and lecturer of J B Law College had previously appeared, however, the positions have been absorbed by acquaintances of college committee itself.’’Anti Corruption Youth-Power, Assam has informed that J B Law College had a fund of Rs 8 crore in 2017 out of which only Rs 4 crore remains till date. Gogoi has alleged that the use of 4 crore does not add up and has been mishandled.
