GUWAHATI, Nov 14: Mamoni Raisom Gowami was recalled on her 76th birthday on Tuesday by her family members, friends, writers, fans and others at her residence at Pub-Sarania in Guwahati.
Writers Anuradha Sarma Pujari and Molisha Saikia were present on the occasion as chief guests this evening that got off to a running start with the Saraswati Banda by Ajanta Goswami.
“Baideo (eleder sister) isn’t with us now. However, we do recall her. Her birthday wasn’t celebrated in our residence when we were children. As soon as baideo set her foot on the literary landscape, she started to have fans who celebrated her birthday here. She had the habit of writing in the morning on a small table, but in shade. She was averse to glaring light. Sweetness of incense is what she liked the most. Her library has a collection of 6,000 books,” Sabita Goswami, one of the writer’s cousins, said in her iugural speech.
