Guwahati: Manipur government, with an urge to help the poor and to provide employment to unemployed youths and sustainable livelihood for various people, have taken up the latest initiative of introducing Manipur Cab Services. The cab service is launched by Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Monday at Manipur State Film Development Society Hall, Palace Compound in Imphal.
The newly launched Manipur Cab Service is owned by Imphal Finance Co-op Thrift & Credit Society Ltd. While launching the service, the state CM said that the unemployed youth in Manipur is full of talents and capabilities, it is only that the previous government did not know how to utilize them. There was no facility for the unemployed youths of the state by the earlier government and Singh said that they will make sure that everybody gets to earn for his livelihood.
The CM further claimed that his government has provided enough space for the people to showcase their talents to the outside world. His government has even initiated Manipur Start-up Policy too for encouraging the entrepreneurs and talented people for self-employment and sustainable livelihood. Not only this, as per reports, around 4000 entrepreneurs have applied in the second phase of the Start-up Policy and this indeed is good news for the state. If this trend continues then in the coming 4 to 5 years, Manipur will transform into a fully employed state.
Among other good things, the allocation of a fund of around Rs. 1 crore as monetary assistance for the Manipur Sangai Festival 2018 too is a good news. The government has received this monetary help from various sectors of the State.
The CM also spoke about the installation of the traffic light system in the Imphal area recently. He said that after the implementation of this new traffic system, no vehicle is seen parking on the zebra crossing in the road.
Speaking further about other plans taken by the government for ensuring the overall growth of the state, he mentioned his aim to provide safe drinking water to every household by 2022. For this project of supplying safe drinking water to people, the Union government has recommended sanctioning Rs 2600 crores. The center has also agreed to increase the Open Market Borrowing by Rs 100 crores.
