SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has urged Rahul Gandhi to reconsider his decision to quit from the post of AICC president. “It is the considered opinion of the Meghalaya PCC that exit of Rahulji from the presidentship of the party at this juncture, when the party is faced with multiple challenges from divisive and disruptive forces, would lead to the total disintegration of the party,” MPCC chief Dr Celestine Lyngdoh said on Friday.

The MPCC also, on behalf of the rank and file of the party, has also pledged unstinted loyalty and support to the leadership of Rahul Gandhi even as it expressed confidence that the party would see brighter days soon under his presidentship.

The MPCC further observed that the defeat of the party in the hands of the BJP and its allies was not at all the defeat of the long cherished ideals and principles, but in fact a defeat due to the unethical and unconstitutional strategies adopted by the opponents.
