Modi Cabinet 2.0 Portfolios: Amit Shah appointed as New Home Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman holds charge as FM

Guwahati: The Narendra Modi government on Friday announced the allocation of the Cabinet portfolios. Former BJP National President Amit Shah, who was speculated to be appointed as the new finance minister, became the new Minister for Home Affairs with Nirmala Sitharaman becoming the new Finance Minister in the Modi Cabinet 2.0.

Rajnath Singh has been appointed as the new Defence Minister and S Jaishankar was appointed as the new External Affairs Minister. Followed by Smriti Zubin Irani, who was expected to be awarded as the new Minister of Women and Child Development and Minister of Textiles.

Piyush Goyal gets to retain the Railways portfolio and has also been given Commerce and Industry which was held by Suresh Prabhu, who has been dropped.

Prakash Javadekar, who was the Human Resource Development minister, gets to retain the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and will be the new Minister of Information and Broadcasting.

Gajendra Singh Shekhawat will be the Minister of Jal Shakti. Dr. Harsh Vardhan has been appointed as Minister of Health and Family Welfare; Minister of Science and Technology; and Minister of Earth Sciences.

Following is the list of portfolios allocated:

Narendra Modi: Prime Minister and also in-charge of Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions; Department of Atomic Energy; Department of Space; and All important policy issues; and All other portfolios not allocated to any Minister.
