TANGLA: In yet another incident of moral policing, a group of unruly youths acting as moral-police brutally assaulted a youth and extorted money for his safe release in Nonaipara TE under Paneri Police Station in Udalguri district.

According to reports, chicken trader Amdi Jamal visited Nonaipara TE for the weekly market to sell his livestock on Saturday. Three youths, identified as Biki Tanti, Filip Sona and Shiv Sona accused Amdi of having an extra-marital affair with a woman and assaulted him the whole night. They released him the next morning after taking Rs 20,000 as fine and looted his valuables. Amdi lodged an FIR against the youths at Paneri Police Station on Wednesday. The police are yet to arrest the perpetrators of the incident. The incident has created sensation in Nonaipara TE and its neighbouring areas.
