Nagaland: Hornbill Carnival Night to be plastic free

Kohima: The Kohima Chamber of Commerce and Industries (KCCI) has said the stretch exhibiting Nagaland's 'Hornbill Night Carnival' from December 1-10 will be a plastic free zone.

The jamboree is a piece of the International Hornbill Festival of Nagaland, a yearly tourism activity of the state government.

There will be a restriction on utilization of all types of plastic and non-biodegradable materials, including mineral water bottles and thermocol, KCCI president Medozhatuo Rutsa told media on Wednesday.

KCCI and Kohima Municipal Council would give exchange paper packs, while restaurants can utilize launderable dishes, he stated, including, defaulters would be punished.

The 10-day night festival would be set up from 6 pm to 9 pm from Phoolbari intersection to Razhu Point.

The structures for the opening of stalls will be issued from Thursday. The last date of accommodation of the structures is November 22, and the statement would be done on November 24.
