New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, immediately after starting his second term, has made sure that the administration is run well, whether in the village, state or national level. Hence, he has even written personal letters to the 'Gram Pradhans' or village heads of certain villages. What he is concerned about and has written in these letters is mainly about conserving rainwater and dealing with the severe issue of the water crisis.
With the monsoon ready to hit many parts of the country, PM Modi gets ready to deal with the water crisis issue and hence, has made sure that the villages at the ground level start learning to conserve water.
Each of these personalized letters to the village heads is signed by the prime minister and are hand-delivered to the village chiefs. The responsibilities of delivering the letters to the village heads are vested on the respective District Magistrates and Collectors of the districts.
The first instance of its kind, the very matter of sending personal letters to the village heads have been able to catch the attention. Villagers of the particular villages are finding it pretty interesting and worth discussing a matter that their village heads have received personal letters from the PM. One such to be cited here, for instance, is Sonbhadra in Eastern UP which is located near PM Modi's constituency Varanasi. There are 637 such village chiefs who have received his written request for rainwater conservation.
The letters are written in Hindi wherein PM Modi writes, "Dear Sarpanchji, Namaskar (Namaste). I hope that you and all my brothers and sisters of the panchayat would be in the best of health. The rainy season is about to begin. We are grateful to God that we are blessed with so much rainwater. We should make all efforts and arrangement to conserve this blessing (water)."
The one-page letter comprises of Modi’s special request that the village heads should convene a meeting of the gram sabha or village assembly and read his message loud. He further added, "It is requested that a discussion should be held in the village on how to conserve water. I have faith in all of you that adequate arrangements would be made to save every drop of rainwater."
