NCHAC official resigns, decries non-payment of salary

Haflong, Nov 23: The Additiol District Primary Education Officer, Prasan Hasnu of N C Hills Autonomous Council, resigned from his service tendering his resigtion letter to the Principal Secretary on Wednesday. Hasnu who also the president of  North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council Employees’ Union (NCHACEU), in his resigtion stated that he was no longer interested in council service as salary of council employees was pending for one year. Further he had been placed under suspension for demanding salary of council employees as union president as many employees were uble to maintain their families and many of them were compelled to stop their children from pursuing higher studies outside Haflong due to non-receipt of salary.

 “I am also uble to maintain my livelihood as I am solely dependent on service and being a service holder I cannot do any business. Therefore, I resign from the post of Additiol District Primary Education Officer, NC Hills Autonomous Council from today,” Hasnu added. Talking to this correspondent, Hasnu said he had been associated with social organizations like VHP and others literary organizations since long and also worked for the development of Dimasa language and would be happy to get involved in these works of literature. When asked whether he would join any political party, he said that as of now he had decided not to join any political party and would rather prefer to work for the society and for the development of literature.
