NEFTU gets first Chancellor

Itagar, March 14: Dileep K ir has been appointed as the first chancellor of North East Frontier Technical University (NEFTU) at Aalo in West Siang district.

State Governor Lt Gen (Retd) Nirbhay Sharma has approved appointment of ir as the chancellor of the private varsity on March 6 last.

NEFTU, the first technical university in the state would start its academic session from May next.

"The university under 2f of the UGC Act 1956, sponsored by Automobile Society of India, New Delhi will provide free education to 30 per cent girl students," ir informed over phone today.

The varsity would target students from the entire Siang belt initially as hostel facilities would be available only after two years, 37-year-old yar, a bachelor in Social Law said.

"There is no technical institution in the state to offer higher studies after diploma. The North East Regiol Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST), a deemed varsity in the state, offers 10 per cent reservation to Aruchalees, while the tiol Institute of Technology (NIT) in the state capital has no specific reservation," he reasoned.
