NFRMU opposes move to privatize Railways, observes 'Black Day' in Bongaigaon and Tinsukia

Bongaigaon: "If you want to finish anybody, first criticize him. When his image is spoilt, then kill him because at that time nobody will blame you for killing him. The same policy is being followed by the Central Government today to finish the Railway industry. They are trying to show loss in this actually profitable industry so that they can hand it over to corporate houses," said Ashish Biswas, joint general secretary of North East Frontier Railway Mazdoor Union (NFRMU) on Monday in New Bongaigaon in a protest meeting organized by NFRMU New Bongaigaon Workshop branch. He said that NFRMU under the banner of All India Railwaymen's Federation would fight against it till the end.

All Railway employees throughout India observed Black Day on Monday in protest against the government's conspiracy to privatize the Railway industry. "The Railway board had declared a 100-day plan by which they intend to privatize an important part of the Railway industry. We will launch a countrywide agitation against this conspiracy," said Phanidhar Das, vice-president of NFRMU. Activists of NFRMU observed Black Day in several places of NF Railway, including Rangia, Guwahati , Maligaon, Rangapara, Lumding , Tinisukia and Simaluguri.

TINSUKIA: Along with rest of the country, the NFR Mazdoor Union observed Black Day on Monday as a part of the week-long protest against the Central Government's policy to privatize the Railways.

In a press release, the organizational secretary of NFRMU, Pulak Gogoi stated that the BJP government's move to privatize railway workshops like Chittaranjan workshop, coach manufacturing factory and wheel factory would be catastrophic and demanded immediate withdrawal of the proposed decision. The NFRMU also expressed concern about the fate of the historical Dibrugarh workshop.
