Tezpur, July 6: A high level Zonal Monitoring Team of National Innovations of Climate Resilient Agriculture (NICRA) visited Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Sonitpur on July 4 and July 5. The team visited villages like Punioni–Baghchung and Nagharia near Balipara where the KVK, Sonitpur is executing NICRA programme. The team also interacted with the farmers and farm women regarding the benefits derived from the successful agricultural interventions upscaled through the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) funded project and implemented through Central Institute of Dry Land Agriculture(CRIDA), Hyderabad.
The high level team under the Chairmanship of HK Senapati, Former Dean, Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT), Bhubeneswar also visited the different demonstration plots of both the villages and suggested measures for effective implementation of the programme. The other committee members were SK Jadav, Principal Scientist, CRIDA, Hyderabad, AK Tripathi, Director, ATARI, Zone VI, Guwahati and RK Saud, Associate Director of Extension Education, Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat. The head of KVK, Sonitpur Promod Ch Deka felicitated the team members and made an elaborate presentation of the programme since its implementation from 2011-12. The scientific staff of KVK, Sonitpur Arifa Momtaz Begum, BK Neog , Angana Sarmah , Palash Thengal and Sarmistha Borgohain accompanied the team during the field visit.
