Naveen Patnaik, Chief Minister of Odisha has sanctioned a sum of Rs 60 lakhs to feed stray animals during the lockdown. Animals face a scarcity of food as the roads go deserted under the strict measures of the states.

A tweet by the Odisha Public Information Department said, "Animals such as stray dogs and cattle are facing a food shortage owing to the lockdown." The Odisha Government has also taken strict measures to break the chain of the virus from spreading more.
The Chief Minister of Odisha has sanctioned funds from the Chief Minister's Relief Funds (CMRF) for a noble cause and has made the funds available in various government offices and set-ups.
An official release by the government said, "The lockdown is now underway across the state to control the pandemic. Therefore, stary dogs and animals are deprived of food…The CM approved sanction Rs. 60 lakhs from his relief fund."
It further added that the funds will be available in 5 municipal corporations, 48 municipalities, and 65 notified area councils (NACs) and said that urban local bodies will be providing food to the stray animals through various voluntary organizations.
Metropolitan corporations are to spend Rs 20,000 a day for the purpose, the municipalities w=are allowed to spend Rs 5000 a day and the NACs can spend up to Rs 2000 to feed the stray. Volunteers will be engaged to feed the strays said the government.
It was also reported that earlier on Sunday the local administration in Jaipur fed the monkeys, stray dogs, and cows at the Mahavinayak temple in the Chandikhole area.
