Online food delivery platform Foodpanda India expands to 13 new cities including Guwahati

German Mobile food delivery Marketplace Foodpanda on Thursday announced that it is making an entry into 20 cities. Apart from having ongoing operation in 7 cities, the food delivery platform has entered 13 starting from today. The app has commenced its operations in Guwahati, Chandigarh, Kanpur, Jaipur, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Nashik, Nagpur, Bhubaneswar, Mysore, Visakhapatnam, and Coimbatore with Foodpanda's delivery partner network on ground.

Over 3,000 restaurant partners have been on board to the platform of Foodpanda in these 13 cities over the past weeks along with 5,000 Delivery Partners. Foodpanda aspires to grow the number of Delivery Partners to 20,000 in the next 6 months across these 13 cities.

The company of late is facing tough competition with the advent of similar apps like Uber Eats and Swiggy.

With Foodpanda's vast delivery partner network on ground, consumers and restaurant partners will reap benefits from a seamless experience, the company said in a statement.

As stated by CEO at Foodpanda India, Pranay Jivrajka, "We are thrilled to expand Foodpanda's delivery network to 20 cities across the country. We are in the midst of a fast-paced nationwide expansion with an ambition to serve a billion Indians. We are confident that our cutting edge technology and unique local insights will make Foodpanda, India's largest and most preferred food experience platform."

Foodpanda had also notified its intention to onboard an additional 60,000 delivery partners on to its network by the end of October. Tens of thousands of delivery partners have already been on-boarded over the past month with Foodpanda.

Jivrajka, further said, "Being a part of the Ola platform, Foodpanda will explore opportunities to synergise its services and efforts of delivering superior food experiences to cater to a wider pool of customers across these cities."

Cab platform Ola acquired FoodPanda’s India operations in December 2017 for roughly $40 million, giving it entry into the fast-growing online space in India to compete for rivals like Swiggy and Zomato. Ola besides announced that it will invest $200 million in Foodpanda India.

FoodPanda was moreover of late integrated into the Ola app so that it can reach an additional customer base on 150 million. The company also claimed that it achieved a milestone of 3 lakh orders a day on the back of several recently introduced offers.

Guwahati has also other food delivery apps operating like Uber Eats, Swiggy etc. Foodpanda's launch in Guwahati will make online food delivery more easy to the consumers in the city.
