JORHAT: Dr Nilutpol Bhattacharyya, the Public Relation Officer of Jorhat Medical College and Hospital (JMCH), while addressing media persons on Sunday, said that for the people of Majuli a separate Out Patient Department (OPD) had been opened.
Dr Bhattacharyya said that for patients from Majuli a separate OPD had been opened as they have to travel by road and country boats to reach JMCH. They usually return to Majuli the same day as most of them cannot afford to stay in hotels or lodges in Jorhat.
Now the patients from Majuli will have to produce their identity cards like voter ID, ration card, electricity bill or bank pass book during the time of registration at the counter meant for Majuli patients only. A ticket will be issued on payment of Rs 10 for registration and then they can go for any tests or check-up based on priority basis. “This new service will save their time and also make things convenient for such patients,” said Dr Bhattacharyya.
