Police constable pens down longest ever Assamese poem

GAON (HAIBORGAON), Dec 10: A constable of Assam Police, Rajendra th Saikia of Telia Pohikata village on the outskirts of gaon town remains on duty almost the whole day. Yet, he has been composing and writing various forms of literature in Assamese language for the last couple of years and has already released seven books, including poems, essays, short stories and novels on various themes and subjects.

This time, Rajendra th Saikia will release the longest ever Assamese poem on January 1, 2018 in gaon. In an interaction with this correspondent, Saikia said that he had already composed the poem and it was currently in the press. The poem will have 3,000 lines with total 12,779 words and it had taken him a year to complete the whole poem. He further said that the poem in book form would be released on January 1, 2018 at a function to be held in gaon town.
