DHUBRI: Dhubri district administration and education department, in collaboration with Piramal Foundation, is all set to launch Prayas (tryst)- a new initiative to accelerate learning process led by volunteers in the district from June 28.

The idea is to celebrate the sustainable effort of the department which led to 18 per cent increase in the enrolment of the students involving 45,000 children during Amar Vidyalay Amar Abhiman. The next step was to involve volunteers in the Accelerated Learning Programme – Prayas- to keep the pace of learning and to retain the momentum, an official said.

The official said, “It is Amar Vidhyalaya, Amar Abhiman 2.0 by incorporating volunteers and engaging them for 45 days in reading and learning process with primary-level students, particularly a focusing on Class II, Class IV and Class V students.”

Recently, principals of 20 different colleges and representatives of seven NGOs participated in a meeting held in this connection chaired by Dhubri Deputy Commissioner Anant Lal Gyani. When contacted, Dhubri District Manager of Piramal Foundation, Udai Singh Chundawat informed that besides Nehru Yuva Kendra, members of prominent NGOs like Rotary Club, Lions Club and Marwari Yuva Manch participated in the meeting and agreed to volunteer their services in the schools and connect more and more people to Prayas.

“Apart from this, a letter from the DC office will be issued to connect with the Gaon Panchayat members, mother groups, School Management Committee and CRCC to come together and make this successful,” Chundawat further informed. Chundawat added that the Deputy Commissioner also released a video appealing and inviting the volunteers and shared the link of the volunteer registration form through his Twitter account and Facebook page.

Having tasted success during ‘Amar Vidyalaya, Amar Abhiman’, a brainchild programme of Dhubri Deputy Commissioner Anant Lal Gyani, he is highly optimistic about the mass connection of volunteers in the programme.

“This is a volunteers-led Accelerated Learning Programme (ALP) to address the need of the students who are not able to retain the pace with the teaching-learning process in a normal classroom situation. The campaign will start from June 28 and application process to volunteer for the service will close on June 24,” Gyani said.
