Rajya Sabha passes Enemy Property Bill

New Delhi, March 10: The Rajya Sabha on Friday passed the controversial Enemy Property Bill amidst an opposition walkout. The Bill amends the Enemy Property Act, 1968, to vest all rights, titles and interests over enemy property in the custodian and declares transfer of property by the enemy as void. This applies retrospectively to all transfers that have occurred under the Act. The Bill also prohibits civil courts and other authorities from entertaining disputes related to enemy property.

The Lok Sabha has already passed the Bill in March last year.

The entire opposition walked out in protest and the Bill was passed without a single opposition member in the House. (IANS)
