Rima Das Becomes TIFF's 'Share Her Journey' Ambassador

Guwahati: Assamese Filmmaker Rima Das has joined as an official Ambassador of Toronto International Film Festival's 'Share Her Journey.'

The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) has launched the five years 'Share Her Journey' campaign in 2017 in order to increase participation, skills and opportunities for women behind and in front of the camera.

Rima Das also won the Dublin Film Critics Circle Jury Award for Best Director for her film Bulbul Can Sing.

Das has won the award in the 2019 Virgin Media Dublin International Film Festival. The film Bulbul Can Sing is a visceral drama about a teenage girl Bulbul who lives in a village in Assam fighting her way through love and loss as she figures out who she really is.

Bulbul Can Sing is the third film of Rima Das, the first two were Village Rockstar and Antardrishti: Man with the Binoculars. Bulbul Can Sing was also screened in the Contemporary world cinema section in the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival. The film is about a teenage girl who falls in love is on the verge of discovering her teen life but unfortunately, due to a tragedy which strikes her best friend, she questioned herself and her love life.

Das expressed happiness on joining as the Ambassador of TIFF's 'Share Her Journey' saying that she would like to bring together the voices of the people of all genders and collaborate to champion the cause of equality.

Recently she was also honoured with ICC NE Excellence Award at North East Business Summit at Hotel Le Meridien in New Delhi conducted by Indian Chamber of Commerce.

She has also won several national and international awards for her film Village Rockstars that has rocked the film industry for depicting the natural scenery of the state of Assam and its uniqueness.
