Dibrugarh: The long-standing vision to transform the residence of Rupkonwar Jyoti Prasad Agarwala, where he was born and which is within the premises of the Tamulbari Tea Company (P) Ltd, into a site of major tourist attraction, finds a new lease of life with the new management of the tea estate deciding to earmark a large tract of land near the historical residence for the said purpose.
The work towards this dream project will be formally inaugurated on June 17, the 117th birth anniversary of the literary genius, in the tea estate amidst the presence of many dignitaries. Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal is expected to be the chief guest for the event. Moreover, acclaimed litterateur and former president of Axam Xahitya Xabha, Dr. Nagen Saikia; Vice-Chancellor of Mahapurush Srimanta Shankardev University, Dr. Kandarpa Kumar Deka and eldest daughter of Agarwala, Jayshree Chaliha, who has many childhood memories of the place, are also expected to grace the occasion.
