Sarbananda Sonowal launches Farmers’ Credit Subsidy Scheme

GUWAHATI: In a move to empower the farmers economically and socially and to pay homage to the martyrdom of peasants died in Patharughat, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal ceremonially launched Farmers’ Credit Subsidy Scheme at a function held at Srimanta Sankardeva International Auditorium here on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Sonowal said that State government is committed to empower farming community. Finance Minister Dr Himata Biswas Sarma while speaking on the occasion talked at length on the Farmers’ Credit Subsidy Scheme and said that during 11 to 15 February 2019 a new scheme will be launched to provide Rs. 5 thousand each to 5 lakh farmers in the state. According to a press release, MLAs Ashok Singhi, Ashwini Ray Sarkar, Rupak Sarma, Bimal Bora, Chief General Manager SBI Sunit Kumar Tendon, Chief General Manager NABARD Rajeswari Baruah, Additional Chief Secretary Finance Rajib Bora, Principal Secretary Finance Samir Sinha, Principal Secretary Agriculture Rajesh Prasad, several progressive farmers and a host of other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
