A press release said that, Shishu Sarothi has partnered with UNICEF, Assam and The Thumbprint for inclusion of disability in its WASH project, called Sanitation Scribes, which aims at drawing focus on WASH issues which are largely neglected in the public discourse. The discussion highlighted  on the issues of open defecation, access to safe and clean water and sanitation facilities for all and WASH during disasters through ‘Conversations’ .

The conversation aims to bring into focus issues around Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (Wash) issues of Persons with Disabilities. Achievement of WASH targets including elimition of open defecation and availability of safe drinking water, depending to a large extent on creating awareness and sensitization among communities for which it is crucial to make WASH issues an acceptable and urgent “talking point” in public discourse. The aim of Sanitation Scribes is to bring hitherto non-prioritized issues into the mainstream.
