Sensitization programme on weather forecast at Lakhimpur Krishi Vigyan Kendra by Indo-Global Social Service Society

LAKHIMPUR: Noted non-profit organization, Indo-Global Social Service Society (IGSSS) organized a sensitization programme on the weather forecast and dissemination of weather mapping in the context of agriculture practices at Lakhimpur Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) campus on Tuesday.

The programme was supported by Socour Catholique in collaboration with Lakhimpur KVK. The programme was part of the two projects which have been implemented by the IGSSS on Disaster Risk Reduction and climate change adaptation with special reference to the creation of flood resilient crops and building resilience and food security in the community towards water induced and climate change hazards in Telahi Development Block of the district covering 25 villages under Lohit Khabolu and Pachim Telahi Gaon Panchayats. The farmers of these 25 villages took part in the programme.

The programme began with the welcome speech by Mantu Saikia, the Community Mobilizer of IGSSS, while project officer Pinamoni Baruah explained about IGSSS and objectives of the programme. Head of Lakhimpur KVK, BC Deka, and Professor of Agro-Meteorology Department of Biswanath Agriculture College, Prasanta Neog participated as resource persons on the stipulated subject. Journalists Kumud Baruah, Dipen Borah and Ranjit Kakati graced the concluding event of the programme as guests of honour.
