SHILLONG: Meghalaya Home Minister, James K Sangma on Friday advised Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC), Chief Hispreaching Son Shylla to restrain himself when he speaks on the issue of Inner Line Permit (ILP).
Sangma said, “He must show a bit of retrain when he speaks.” It may be mentioned that on Thursday, irked by the State Government over its stand on the ILP passed by the KHADC last year, Shylla has decided to approach the judiciary.
According to the Home Minister, the District Council Affairs Department and the State’s Law Department have studied the bill even as Sangma added that Shylla can always approach the court if he wishes to.
Time and again the State Government had reiterated that it was not within the ambit of the district council to make law on ILP.
“Implementation of the ILP is outside the legislative competency of the District Council,” Sangma said. It may be pointed that Shylla, quit the National People’s Party (NPP) last week.
