Six-Year Rigorous Imprisonment For ULFA Cadre

GUWAHATI: Special NIA Court, Guwahati has sentenced ULFA cadre Gagan Hazarika alias Joydeep Cheleng to six years rigorous imprisonment (RI) with a fine of Rs 15,000 under the Unlawful Activity Prevention Act. In default of making payment of the fine, he will have to undergo six months simple imprisonment.

Gagan Hazarika, hailing from Charaideo, had been arrested by the NIA on January 18, 2017. In the case, ULFA chairman Mukul Hazarika alias Abhijit Asom and ULFA ‘c-inc’ Paresh Baruah have also been charge sheeted in the case. They, however, have been absconding.
