Smugglers apprehended in Kokrajhar, BSF arrests drug smugglers in Cooch Behar

Kokrajhar: In connection with a special drive against illegal cattle smuggling and syndicates, as directed by DGP, Assam, four cattle smugglers were apprehended from Tulsibil area of Kokrajhar district late on Wednesday night. Kokrajhar Superintendent of Police Rajen Singh said two cattle smugglers were apprehended and eight cattle were seized from their houses. The arrested cattle smugglers are Saheb Ali and Nayeb Ali, son of Md. Khalilur Rahman of Rupshi village under Tulshibil OP of Gossaigaon PS.

In another attempt, two cattle smugglers were apprehended and 11 cattle were seized from their houses. The cattle smugglers are Soleman Ali, son of Nayan Ali, and Keramat Ali, son of Ajgar Ali of Khoraghat village under Bogribari PS of the same district. He also said that cases had been registered. Legal actions are going on.

GUWAHATI: In different operations, troops of Border Security Force of Guwahati Frontier apprehended three Indian drug smugglers along with 151 bottles of phensedyl on the intervening night of Wednesday, from bordering areas of Satbhandari and Choudharihat under Cooch Behar district of West Bengal.

In the first incident, on Wednesday, Gate management party of BSF troops of Satbhandari Border Outpost (BOP) apprehended two Indian nationals along with 50 bottles of phensedyl. Apprehended drug smugglers have been identified as Bharat Barman (61 yrs) and Prabha Barman,(55 yrs). Both are residents of Satbhandari under Sitai Police Station of Cooch Behar district in West Bengal. They have been handed over to Sitai Police Station for further action.

In the second operation, acting on a tip off, BSF troops apprehended another Indian drug smuggler along with 101 bottles of phensedyl from Choudharyhat Border Outpost. Apprehended drug smuggler has been identified as Saidul Hoque(35 yrs), resident of Khitaberkutti-ii under Sahebganj Police Station of Cooch Behar district of West Bengal. He has been handed over to Sahebganj Police Station for further action.

Besides, BSF troops of Guwahati Frontier seized 42 cattle heads having approximate value of Rs 1,64,605 and 667 bottles of phensedyl having an approximate value of Rs 1,02,899 on intervening night of Wednesday, stated a press release.
