JOYSAGAR, July 26: The solar street light scheme of the Central Alternative Power Generation Agency was formally launched in Gaurisagar town under Amguri LAC of Sivasagar district on Wednesday. Amguri MLA Pradip Hazarika formally inaugurated the scheme by switching on the street lights of Gaurisagar town. Amguri SDO, Sivasagar ADC, Executive Engineer of the alternative power project and the chairperson of Amguri Municipal Board were present in the inaugural function held near Gaurisagar daily bazaar. Amguri MLA Pradip Hazarika in his speech said that the Union government wanted to conserve traditional energy and thereby had launched such a scheme. The Gaurisagar town solar power scheme was recommended by the Union government’s alternative energy department and a fund about Rs.22 lakh was sanctioned in the 2017-18 annual budget.
