Stolen truck meets with accident at Dhula

MANGALDAI, November 10: A truck loaded with tiles value worth Rs. 1, 30,000 reportedly stolen from a godown at Lal Godown under Bashistha Police station in Guwahati on November 6, on Thursday met with an accident near the Tongani bridge under Dhula Police Station.  The gang of truck lifters immediately fled away before police or people of the locality reached the spot. As reported, the truck bearing number AS 01 T 2291 under the transport agency CTA Logistics of Beltola in Guwahati, was loaded with tiles at the BG Yard, Noonmati on November 6 and proceeded to a godown in Lalmati in the city. But since it was night, the truck could not be unloaded and the driver of the truck left the truck at the godown complex along with two other trucks.  But the next morning, the driver found the loaded truck missing. An FIR was lodged at Basistha Police Station. When the Officer in-Charge of Dhula Police Station, Ranjit Hazarika reached the spot of accident, he came to know about the stolen truck. Of the loaded tiles only few pieces could be recovered from the truck as the gang of truck lifters had sold them on the way. A team of Basistha Police came to Dhula along with the owners and the employees of the transport agency and took it to Guwahati.
