Surrendered ULFA Cadre Arrested on Extortion Charges in Guwahati

A surrendered ULFA cadre was arrested today by the Guwahati Police for extorting money from a businessman.

The surrendered cadre named Deepan Das was caught red-handed by the Bharalumukh Police of Guwahati, while he was collecting money from a businessman of Dhubri.

Das has been allegedly involved in extorting money from the businessman on behalf of former ULFA commander Drishti Rajkhowa aka Manoj Rabha.

The former commander had demanded Rs 10 lakh from the businessman and Das had been there to collect the first installment of Rs 1 lakh.

A surrender identity card, Rs 1 lakh, and two mobile phones have been recovered from Das. Furthermore, inputs provided by Das to the police has also led to the arrest of another ULFA cadre in Goalpara.
