Bollywood Actor Deepika Padukone has confirmed that she will, in fact, be a part of spouse and actor Ranveer Singh's upcoming film 83. While Ranveer Singh will play ace cricketer Kapil Dev in the movie, Deepika will play his better half Romi.

Talking to The media, Deepika Padukone stated, "I am so glad that Kabir Khan (director) came to me with it. This happened several months back when he was still casting the boys for the film. It's simply that I was busy with Chhapaak which will be my production debut, that will be wrapped up recently and we were trusting that the right moment to make the announcement."

Based on India's cricket World Cup win in England in 1983, the film will be Deepika and Ranveer's first collaboration since 2018's superhit Padmaavat and their wedding in November. Deepika said they are dynamic as actor stay unaltered after marriage. "I can't consider any other individual who could do equity to the job (of Kapil Dev), but on the off chance that there was another person playing him in the film, and not Ranveer, I would, in any case, do my part. This isn't coming from an individual condition, yet from my passion and eagerness for the film," she said.

Talking about Romi, Deepika said that while very little is known about her, her family has been companions with the Devs for a considerable length of time. "There isn't a great deal of material available on her. I have met her a couple of times, including our wedding reception, and I have interacted with her socially throughout the years. I am also referring to whatever material the director's team has sent crosswise over to me. My parents have known their family for a long time. So, I believe I know her and hope that she is pleased and happy with the film. I intend to connect and spend some time with her before I start filming to be able to understand her perspective better,” she said. When asked if she'll brandish Romi's trademark cropped hair, Deepika prodded that her fans would have to wait and watch.

Deepika Padukone recently completed the process of shooting for Meghna Gulzar's Chhapaak. The film will release on January 10, 2020. In the interim, '83 will be out on April 10, 2020.
