Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has made it clear that the government will not allow the doctors to stay at Agartala leaving their place of posting.
He was addressing a public gathering at Shantir Bazar after laying the foundation stone of a trauma centre beside the Agartala-Sabroom national highway. Work of the trauma centre is scheduled to be completed in the next 18 months, but the Chief Minister urged the engineers to complete it before schedule. Deb who recently took over the charge of the Health Department said the government has fixed three years time to make Tripura a model State out of which one and half years has already lapsed.
Talking about the trauma centre, he said the Central Government has sanctioned the centre so that people gets medical cares round the clock. He said it is unfortunate that many of the doctors posted in various places are in habit of pursuing a deputation in Agartala and leaves their hospital uncared for. “This practice must be stopped”, he said.
He accused the previous Left Front government for its indifferent attitude towards the development of the State, especially in developing a good medical infrastructure. Giving an instance, he said necessary sanction for this trauma centre was given when Atal Bihari Bajpai was the Prime Minister, but the Left Front government could not even start the preliminary work for so many years.
