Two Seeds Bow Out In AITA Championship Series Tennis Tournament

GUWAHATI: The girls U-16 singles event reached into the semi final stage in the ongoing AITA Championship Series Tennis Tournament at the All Assam Tennis Association Complex, Chachal in Guwahati today. Un seeded Kaatyayini Vashisth of Assam caused upset by defeating 4th seed Ashmita Mitra of West Bengal in straight sets in the quarter final of the girls 16 singles event.

Other girls who made it to the semi finals are top seed Oindril Sen (WB), 3rd seed Justina Borgohain (AS) and 2nd seed Tanishqa Patar (AS). In the boys singles pre quarter finals unseeded Pritam Barua of Assam caused a major upset by ousting 4th seed Harshad Borah (AS) in three gruelling sets 3-6, 7-6(5), 6-1. All the other seeds in the boys singles event reached the quarter final stage.
