Joysagar: The Ujjani Asom Muslim Kalyan Parishad (UAMKP) has demanded satellite autonomy for overall development of the indigenous Upper Assam Muslim community people. UAMKP leaders held a meeting in Nazira MC Club on Tuesday where they discussed various socio-economic problems of the Upper Assam Muslims. The organization also demanded implementation of the recommendations of the Sachar Committee.

The UAMKP leaders stated categorically that the Muslims of Upper Assam were indigenous people and would never support any politics regarding granting citizenship to suspected immigrants and foreigners. They also alleged that illegal foreigners, including Muslim immigrants, were creating several challenges for the indigenous Muslims along with other local communities.
