Watch what you eat: Sil found in ice cream!

JORHAT, July 2: The finding of a sil in the packet of an ice-cream of the A-ONE Company has created sensation in Jorhat on Thursday.

The complaint Jintu Das had purchased a packet of the ice cream for his 6-year old son to beat the heat when after finishing almost half the ice cream, the boy found a sil completely blended with the ice cream.

Immediately upon a complaint, the police seized the ice cream cart and picked up the owner of A-ONE Ice cream Guddu Gupta for further interrogation. It is yet to be confirmed whether the police had called for a food safety officer to assess the hygienic condition of the factory where the ice cream is made or about any doctor to assess the young boy’s health condition.

The A-ONE factory situated at the Teliapatty area of Jorhat adjacent the busy AT Road allegedly makes ice cream in one of the most unhygienic conditions and with impure water. Incidentally, most of the customers are school children. People are questioning if the Jorhat district administration keeps a vigil on these illegal ice cream makers, a number of which have recently crawled up in the city by maging corrupt officials of the respective departments. The public has demanded suitable punishment to the owner.

Today’s incident has served as an eye opener for many and as soon as the news spread, people were seen discarding A-ONE ice cream in Jorhat.
