Woman kills her husband with a sharp weapon in Baksa

GORESWAR: Durlov Kalita (28), who was a driver by profession of village no. 1 Suagpur, was allegedly killed with a sharp weapon by his wife Jonali Kalita (26) at No.3 Suagpur village on Saturday night. She surrendered herself at the Suagpur police outpost under Goreswar police station in Baksa district.

Jonali admitted in front of media persons at Goreswar police station on Sunday that her husband used to come home drunk regularly and harassed her physically as well as mentally. Not being able to bear the torture any more, she went back to her father’s home with her two children six months ago. She said that her husband came to her father’s house on Saturday night in a drunken state and allegedly wanted to attack her and her children. She then hit him with an iron rod. When he fell down, she attacked him with a dao. She then surrendered herself at Suagpur Outpost under Goreswar police station in Baksa district. Goreswar Police registered a case in this connection and the body of Durlov was sent to the district headquarter, Mushalpur for a postmortem on Sunday.
