108 new cases push Arunachal's COVID tally to 14,580

ITANAGAR: As many as 108 more people, including three security personnel and three health care workers, tested positive for coronavirus, pushing the caseload in the State to 14,580, a senior official said on Thursday.

Of the 108 fresh cases, 28 were reported from the Capital Complex region, 12 from Lower Subansiri, 8 from Siang, 7 from Lower Dibang Valley and 6 each cases from Changlang, West Siang, Tawang, Lohit and East Siang districts respectively, the official said.

Five each cases were also reported from Upper Subansiri and LepaRada, three each from Upper Siang and Longding, two from Papumpare and one each from PakkeKessang, KraDaadi, Tirap, Namsai and West Kameng, State Surveillance Officer (SSO) DrLobsangJampa informed.

"Three security personnel including two army men and a jawan of India Reserve Battalion (IRBn) are among the new patients," he said.

Three under trial prisoners from Central Jail at Jully, near here and three health care workers have also contracted the disease, the SSO informed.

Barring 33, all new patients are asymptomatic and have been shifted to COVID care centres, he said.

Arunachal Pradesh currently has 2,064 active cases, while the number of those cured rose to 12,480, with the recovery rate now standing at 85.59 per cent. A total of 36 people have succumbed to the infection with 18 Covid-19 related deaths alone this month, the SSO disclosed.

The Capital Complex region — comprising Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas — has the highest number of active cases at 1,137 followed by West Siang at 180, DrJampa said.

A total of 3,12,775 samples were examined for COVID-19 so far, including 2,107 on Wednesday, he added.
