ITANAGAR: The West Kameng district administration in Arunachal Pradesh on Tuesday selected total of 119 schemes for the Bomdila and Dirang divisions under Public Health Engineering and Water Supply (PHE&WS) department during the first meeting of the District Water & Sanitation Mission (DWSM) held at Bomdila.

The meeting chaired by West Kameng Deputy Commissioner Karma Leki, unanimously approved a total of 74 schemes under the Bomdila division and 45 schemes under the Dirang division, an official communiqué informed.

The DC, who is the chairman of the DWSM, said that the flagship programme is aimed at providing potable drinking water to every household in the rural areas by 2024.

Earlier, PHED Executive Engineer N Konia made a powerpoint presentation on the 'Annual Action Plan 2020-21', and informed that though the 'Village Action Plan' passed by the Gram Sabha was mandatory; owing to the ongoing pandemic, the 'Annual Action Plan for 2020-21' was placed directly at the district-level board on directives by the authorities concerned. Later, a meeting on the convergence of schemes for the work departments under BADP was held for the representatives of PHED, RWD, PWD, WRD, Power (Elect), DRDA etc wherein the DC called for doing away with duplicity of schemes, the communiqué added.
