ITANAGAR: Single-day recoveries outnumbered fresh COVID-19 cases in Arunachal Pradesh, as 407 more people recuperated from the disease in the last 24 hours, while 196 new infections were reported, a Health Department official said here on Saturday.

The fresh cases pushed the virus tally in the State to 63,315, he said.

The death toll in the State remained at 291, as no casualty was reported in the past 24 hours, State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa said.

As many as 61,039 people were cured of the infection thus far in the State.

The recovery rate among patients marginally improved to 96.40 per cent from 96.06 per cent the previous day, the SSO said.

Among others, the 196 new cases included 54 cases in the Capital Complex Region, 26 in East Siang, 19 in Lower Subansiri, 15 in West Kameng and 11 in Lohit district.

Among the new cases, 153 were detected through rapid antigen test, 21 through RT-PCR process and 22 through TrueNAT methods, Jampa said, adding that 102 of them have developed COVID-19 symptoms.

Arunachal Pradesh currently has 1,985 active cases.

The Capital Complex Region, comprising Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas, has the highest number of active cases at 669, followed by Lower Subansiri at 246, West Kameng (127), East Siang (117) and Papumpare (109).

A total of 12,46,692 samples have been tested for the infection in the State so far, including 1,747 on Friday, Jampa said, adding that the positivity rate dipped to 11.21 per cent from 11.31 per cent the previous day.

State Immunization Officer Dr Dimong Padung said 15,89,939 people have been inoculated with COVID-19 vaccines so far.

At least 53,911 beneficiaries in the age group of 15-18 years have been vaccinated and 18,444 senior citizens received the booster jab.
