ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh on Monday logged 242 fresh COVID-19 cases, 117 less than the previous day, pushing the virus caseload in the State to 59,404, a senior Health Department official said here.
The State had reported 359 COVID-19 cases on Sunday.
Out of the fresh count, 132 cases were registered in the Capital Complex Region, 19 each in East Siang and Papumpare, 11 in Namsai, while Changlang, Leparada, West Kameng and Lower Dibang Valley districts reported nine cases each, the official said.
Fresh cases were also reported from other districts as well, he said.
The death toll remained at 282 as no fresh fatality was reported in the past 24 hours, State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa said.
As many as 56,188 people have recuperated from the disease so far, including, 198 on Sunday, the SSO said, adding that the recovery rate in the State remained at 94.59%.
Among the new cases, 228 were detected through rapid antigen test, 12 through RT-PCR process and two through TrueNAT methods, Jampa said, adding that 101 of them have developed COVID-19 symptoms.
Arunachal Pradesh now has 2,934 active cases.
The State has been witnessing a spurt in infections since January 4, with 4,052 new cases reported so far.
The Capital Complex Region, comprising Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas, has the highest number of active cases at 1,145, followed by West Kameng at 245, Namsai (218), Changlang (194), Papumpare (159), Lohit (156), Lower Dibang Valley (146), East Siang (137) and Lower Subansiri with 114 cases.
A total of 12,26,594 samples have been tested for COVID-19 in the State, including 797 on Sunday, the official said.
State Immunization Officer Dr Dimong Padung said that a total of 15,60,793 people have been inoculated so far in the State.
At least 44,820 beneficiaries in the age group of 15-18 years have been vaccinated with the first dose and 12,375 senior citizens have received the booster jab.
