ITANAGAR: The Covid-19 caseload in Arunachal Pradesh rose to 21,110 with 257 more people tested positive for the infection, a senior health official said here on Friday.
Three more persons succumbed to the infection, pushing the number of fatalities in the northeastern state to 72, State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa said.
A 50-year-old woman expired at Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS) at Naharlagun near here, on Thursday. The patient was diabetic with history of cough and fever for the last ten days, the official said.
Another woman (56) from Lower Siang district, died at the Dedicated Covid Hospital (DCH) at Pasighat in East Siang district on Thursday due to Covid Pneumonia, he said adding, a 35-year-old man from West Siang died due to renal and hepatic failure on Thursday at the Dedicated Covid Health Centre (DCHC) Aalo, the district headquarters.
The Capital Complex region recorded the maximum number of fresh cases at 66, followed by Changlang (38), Lohit (27), Tawang (23), Lower Subansiri (19), Lower Dibang Valley (16) Namsai (11) and West Siang at 10.
Nine fresh cases were also reported from West Kameng, Dibang Valley (8), six each from East Siang and Upper Subansiri, Anjaw (5), four from Papumpare, three from East Kameng, two each from Leparada and Longding and one each from Kra Daadi and Kamle district respectively, the SSO said.
Of the fresh cases, 221 were detected through rapid antigen tests, 18 through RT-PCR and 18 through TrueNat method, Jampa said adding, 59 people have symptoms.
At least 180 more people cured of the disease on Thursday, taking the total number of recoveries in the state to 18,871.
The recovery rate among coronavirus patients stands at 89.39 per cent while the active percentage stands at 10.26 and the positivity rate at 8.34 per cent, the official said.
Arunachal Pradesh now has 2,164 active cases, Dr Jampa said.
The Capital Complex Region - comprising Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas - has the highest number of active cases at 527, followed by Lower Dibang Valley (223), Lower Subansiri (173), Changlang (145), Namsai (144), Lohit (132), Papumpare (122) West Kameng and Tawang at 115 each.
Altogether, 4,95,141 samples have been tested for Covid-19, including 3,080 on Thursday, the SSO said.
State Immunisation Officer Dr Dimong Padung said that 2,98,924 people have been inoculated since the beginning of the vaccination programme in January.
As many as 6,998 cases of violations of Covid appropriate behavior were reported in the state so far during the second wave of the pandemic, while the state government collected a fine of Rs 10,23,350 so far, police sources informed.
