ITANAGAR: According to data gathered in January of this year, the Donyi Polo Airport, the first new airport in Arunachal Pradesh, saw a daily footfall of 280 passengers. According to a statement released on Friday by the Airport Authority of India (AAI), the airport, which Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially opened on November 19, 2022, has operationalized a number of additional routes and is seeing a steady increase in passenger traffic. The first commercial flight, an Indigo airline A-320, started operating on the Itanagar-Kolkata route on November 28 of last year. Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, the Union Civil Aviation Minister, along by the state Chief Minister Pema Khandu, the deputy chief minister Chowna Mein, and other dignitaries, virtually inaugurated the aircraft from Itanagar that connects Kolkata and Mumbai. Flights from Itanagar were also begun by other regional airlines. The long-awaited air service between Itanagar and Guwahati has begun thanks to Flybig airlines. Under the regional connectivity programme UDAN, the Center's flagship initiative to increase regional air connectivity by lowering the cost of travel for regular people, direct connectivity between two state capitals of North Eastern states began on January 15 of last year. In addition to Pasighat and Tezu, Itanagar is now Flybig's tenth destination on its network and third in Arunachal Pradesh with the launch of the Itanagar-Guwahati service. Dharmendra, the state's chief secretary, launched the Itanagar-Guwahati flight. The airport has improved connection inside the state, which now has four functioning airports: Itanagar, Pasighat, Ziro, and Tezu. Alliance Air began operating intra-state flights between its base in Dibrugarh and Donyi Polo Airport on November 29 of last year. Every Tuesday and Saturday, it offers flights between Itanagar and Ziro.

The Thursday and Sunday Itanagar-Pasighat flight operates similarly. Every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday, the aforementioned flights leave from Dibrugarh. The airport's current temporary passenger terminal structure, which is fully air conditioned, spans a 2000 square metre area with a 1500 square metre canopy. According to the statement, the terminal contains a child care area and is outfitted with the necessary amenities for those with disabilities.Tripura polls'
