ITANAGAR: The COVID-19 caseload in Arunachal Pradesh rose to 64,372 after 31 more people tested positive for the infection, a senior Health Department official said here on Thursday.
Of the fresh cases, 24 were registered in Namsai district, four in Lower Subansiri and one each in the Capital Complex Region, Kamle and Lohit respectively, the official said.
As many as 63,837 people recuperated from the disease in the State thus far, including 38 on Wednesday, he said.
The death toll in the frontier State remained at 296, as no casualty due to the infection was reported in the past 24 hours, State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa said.
Arunachal Pradesh currently has 239 active COVID-19 cases, the official said.
The recovery rate among patients marginally improved to 99.17 per cent from 99.16 per cent, the previous day.
Among the fresh cases, 23 were detected through rapid antigen tests, three through RT-PCR process and four through TrueNAT methods, Jampa said, adding that 7 of them have developed COVID-19 symptoms.
Namsai district has the highest number of active cases at 42, followed by the Capital Complex Region, comprising Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas at 36, Dibang Valley (21), West Kameng, Lower Subansiri and Tawang at 19 cases each.
A total of 12,62,108 samples have been tested for the infection in the State so far, including 990 on Wednesday, Jampa said, adding that the positivity rate dipped to 3.13 per cent from 4.77 per cent the previous day.
State Immunization Officer (SIO) Dr Dimong Padung said that as many as 16,31,841 people have been inoculated with COVID-19 vaccines so far.
At least 78,535 beneficiaries in the age group of 15-18 years have been vaccinated and 22,631 senior citizens received the booster jab.
