ITANAGAR: Capital Superintendent of Police (SP), Tumme Amo welcomed the 37 officers and police personnel who were tested COVID-19 positive and discharged after recovery to resume their duty in a homecoming programme held at SP office, Ganga here on Friday.

Speaking to the reporters, SP said that the 37 police personnel have recovered and been discharged. They have also completed their home quarantine and will be resuming their work, he added.

He said that a few of the police personnel had completed just seven days of home quarantine. But they will also be resuming the work taking all precautions as directed by the District Medical Officer (DMO), he said.

"With proper precautions and a healthy diet one can overcome the pandemic. Therefore I request the people to wear facemasks, maintain physical distance and do not panic," he said.

SP informed that despite the extreme shortage of police personnel, the police department has always made sure that our people are protected and guided.

On the sideline, he said that the crime rate of the state in the last one year has drastically decreased.

A total of 37 officers and police personnel were tested COVID-19 positive while discharging their duties in the month of July last. The positive case among the police personnel were started detecting in the month of July 4 and the highest was detected on July 21.
