ITANAGAR: The COVID-19 tally in Arunachal Pradesh rose to 44,222 with 418 more people testing positive for the infection. The toll tally in the frontier State increased to 204 after a person succumbed to the infection on Wednesday, said State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa here on Thursday.

An 80-year-old man from Siang district died at the Dedicated Covid Hospital (DCH) Pasighat in East Siang district on Wednesday, due to acute respiratory distress syndrome with COVID Pneumonia.

The highest number of fresh cases was reported from the Capital Complex Region at 111, followed by Lower Subansiri (31), Papumpare and Upper Subansiri at 29 each, Tawang (28), West Siang (24), Lohit (22), Changlang (14), West Kameng and Anjaw with 13 cases each.

Altogether 12 new cases were also reported from East Siang; 11 each from Namsai, Upper Siang, Longding and East Kameng; 10 each from Kamle and Lower Dibang Valley; nine from Siang; five from Tirap; four from Pakke Kessang; three each from Leparada and Lower Siang; two from Shi-Yomi; and, one each from Kra Daadi and Kurung Kumey district.

Of the fresh cases, 389 were detected through rapid antigen tests, 4 through RT-PCR and 25 by TrueNat methods, the SSO said adding, 202 people have symptoms.

The active cases in the state now stand stands at 4,384.

As many as 365 patients were cured of the disease on Wednesday taking the total number of recoveries in the state to 39,634.

The recovery rate among the Coronavirus patients in Arunachal Pradesh stand at 89.62 per cent while the active percentage stands at 9.91 and the positivity rate at 6.83 per cent.

The Capital Complex Region -- comprising Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas -- has the highest number of active cases at 1,113, followed by Lohit (326), West Kameng (301), Papumpare (286), East Siang (274) and Lower Subansiri at 268 cases.

Altogether, 8,77,444 samples have been tested for COVID-19 in the State so far, including 6,116 on Wednesday, added Jampa.

Meanwhile, State Immunisation Officer (SSO) Dr Dimong Padung informed that a total of 8,00,698 people have been administered COVID-19 vaccine doses so far in the State since the inoculation drive began in January this year.
