5th International Yoga Day Observed Across Arunachal Pradesh

ITANAGAR: Along with the rest of the nation, the 5th International Yoga Day was celebrated in a befitting manner at IG Park by the Department of Health & Family Welfare in collaboration with district administration Capital Complex here on Friday.

People from all walks of life including government employees, school children actively participated in huge numbers in the yoga session that was conducted at the park.

Highlighting the importance of the day, Minister of Health and Family Welfare Alo Libang informed that altogether 180 countries are participating in the celebration today. He lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi for promoting yoga in the world forum and his efforts in adopting the day as the International Yoga Day.

Earlier, Secretary Health & Family Welfare Juhi Mukherjee while welcoming all, stressed that it is our proud privilege that we belong to the country where yoga was born and which is now recognized by the whole world over. Highlighting the theme for the day “Yoga for Heart”, the secretary stressed that with economic development, it is seen that diseases concerning lifestyles like heart ailment, blood pressure, etc., are becoming more life threatening and therefore one should practice yoga to maintain coordination between mind, body and soul.

The district administration also organized the occasion in various schools with an aim to make the students aware of the importance of the day. Student’s right from primary level to higher secondary level actively participated in their respective schools.

Among others, the MLA Boleng, Ojing Tasing and the Deputy Commissioner Capital Complex Vikram Singh Malik participated in the event at IG Park.

At Ziro: Minister for Agriculture, Horticulture, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry TageTaki led the International Yoga Day celebrations at Vivekananda KendreVidyalaya, Dobi today. “Yoga is India s gift to the world. Practicing yoga creates a synchronized mind and a body. It brings in agility, flexibility and youthfulness to the body and the mind.” Taki said while exhorting the participants to make it a daily habit.

At Tezu: The Assistant Commissioner Tezu Sunny Singh along with SP Tezu Dr D.W. Thongon, HODs, Administrative Officers, representative from Brahmakumari, Arun Jyoti , Patanjali and school students from various Government and private schools participated in the 5th International Yoga Day. Speaking on the occasion, Singh exhorted all the participants to embrace yoga in one’s daily life. He said that yoga is essential not only for the physical well being but also for spiritual well being.
