ITANAGAR: Altogether 73 more persons, including seven security personnel, tested positive for COVID-19 in Arunachal Pradesh, pushing the total caseload in the State to 17,186. The toll tally remained unchanged at 56, said State Surveillance Officer Dr Lobsang Jampa here on Thursday.

Of the fresh cases, 66 were detected through Rapid Antigen Tests while; five were detected through TrueNAT and two through RT-PCR methods.

Among the new patients, 26 are symptomatic, while 47 are without symptoms. A total of 26 new cases were reported from the Capital Complex Region; 16 from Lower Dibang Valley; 14 from West Kameng; eight from Papumpare; three from East Siang; two each from Lohit and Changlang; and, one each from Namsai and Pakke Kessangdistricts. Among the patients are six Army men and an employee of Border Roads Organisation (BRO). The number of active patients in the State has increased to 279.

Meanwhile, 16 more persons recuperated from the disease on Wednesday taking the total recoveries in the land-locked State to 16,851.

The recovery rate stood at 98.05 per cent and the positivity rate at 1.62 per cent.

The Capital Complex Region -- comprising Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas -- has the highest number of active cases at 109, followed by Lower Dibang Valley district at 62, West Kameng at 31, East Siang (20) and Papumpare at 13.

Namsai district at present has eight cases, while Lower Subansiri, Tirap and Lohit have six cases each; Leparada has five; Tawang and Changlang have four each; East Kameng has two cases while Pakke Kessang, Upper Siang and West Siang has reported one case each.

As many as 4,25,461 samples have been tested so far, including 2,338 on Wednesday, added Dr Jampa.

Meanwhile, a total of 1,93,180 people have been inoculated in the State so far since the vaccination drive began in January this year, informed State Immunization Officer Dr Dimong Padung.

The State government has made mandatory for all entering the state to go through rapid antigen test in the check gates, in case they do not have a valid certificate of a recent test or a certificate mentioning that they have got both the doses of the COVID vaccine.
